We once walked on the moon and then political-critters ended that: we had the opportunity to invest in the future with Power-Satellites and a corresponding fleet of spacecraft rather than waste money in foreign energy... but so many earthworms decried the billions it would cost ---twenty years later we have spent more than that money on foreign energy and what do we have to show for it? One or two craft that barely can get a couple of hundred miles off the planet! We do NOT have any colonly, any mining, any science on Luna; further, we do not have inplace any specific plans that would already have had us on Mars. I have heard several "educated" people decry space and declaim that it is dangerous and that the young are being lied to with visions of adventure... Yes, space is dangerous! Any new environment is: including the one here with which we have so much experience. Well, frankly, if you should loudly state that the next craft is leaving for MoonBase ( Selene? ) and that I could go if I was willing to start as a janitor or dishwasher and train/study for something else, my only comment would be to ask permission to grab a toothbrush and a couple of paperback books and check what time I needed to be ready. PLEASE, don't falter, don't stumble. Please, give us back the future that so many timid political-critters have not the courage to offer... Have the courage to offer us challenges, adventure ---not the security of welfare. Challenge us with the offer of going but demand that we be willing to work: give us time to study and improve. If so, I do not doubt you will have, even people as myself who are no longer chronology young, willing to train, to practice, to condtion ourselves.I would miss a fire; wind in trees; but for the chance to walk the moon and build a colony... YES! Please, let's go. ---Dennis McDonnell Sic Biscuitis Disintegrat

1985, I was 9 years old. I read a book about space exploration. I was so ecstatic, thinking that soon I would be in space. It's now 1995, and boy do I feel ripped off. Then I found your page. Well, maybe I should first get my degree before I help out. Thanks for keeping a dream alive!

Honestly, having a space shuttle named after me was enough, but a space mission too? I'm flattered. Hey, I'll even donate my bow and arrow to the cause, will that suffice? Seriously though, I'm ecstatic about the project. Hoping to be kept updated as the project unfolds day by day!

There's an interesting quote -- "The meek shall inherit the Earth, the rest will explore the stars." Maybe we all can show humanity how meek it's being these days. Also, possibly of interest to Artemis people is an article on Terraforming from Marsbugs which I put on the Web at: http://www.wam.umd.edu/~kgosier/marsbugs.html

Of what value is lunar colonization to the inhabitants of the Earth? Is it a viable source of minerals (specifically, is there enough titanium there to justify colonization)? Is it the next logical step toward manned exploration of the rest of the inner Solar System (i.e. potential for "shipyards" on the moon)? These and more questions eat at my curiosity!
