I think the goals set by yourselves are the most realistic and feasible chance for humankind to expand and continue to grow. If we stay on this one planet we will stagnate and die. The only ones making an effort at growth as a species are the visionaries with this same lofty purpose. Thank you for making this great dream so much closer to reality.

This is just the project i have been looking for; a serious comercial push to send humans to other worlds. as far as i care, the only purpose of nasa is to train engineers for other projects. i dont personally see why the united states has been soo very timid in the field of space exploration. i miss the space race (tho i wasnt alive then!). i personally hope that nasa will do some more work on nucleur pulse propulsion, cause i dont think current laws allow coorpertations to build and detonate bombs.

Earth's Moon isn't really a nice place to visit (it's always too cold or too 'hot' ). Adventurers will go, just to say they went; but most travellers want comforts (and safety!) which will be hard to provide. I have a wacky idea for a market to tap, though: Golfers! They may be the only people who are both rich enough and crazy enough to be good rubes... Long live Alan Shephard!

The Artemis Project is one of the few near-term space colonization projects out there that seems well thought-out enough to work. I want to do whatever I can to help the effort to help humanity become a true spacefaring species. I'm eager to help on a local or any other level I can.

Just a note to say I am intrigued by The Artemis Project.
In fact, as a member of the newly formed Mars Society I
am quiet taken with the concept that if we're going to go -
that is you, me, JoeSixPack and SuzyToo - then we have to
do it ourselves - the government cannot hack the program.
Further, I am convinced we have reach the Moon first, and
make a go of that before we can get to Mars in any
sustainable fashion. I look forward to working with TAP.

I would like to see more information about working hand-in-hand
with technology companies for investing in the industrial / resource
potential of the moon. I agree that the approach hasn't worked on
its own, but I think that without an economic base, tourism by
itself will be no more effective than industry by itself -
If the U.S. Navy hadn't developed a big presence on Hawaii, do you
think that so many airlines would have flown there, and so many
hotels opened up there, promoting tourism?

I have been following and watching your program for several years. The Artemis
project has been a hope for me for sometime.
I have considered joining several times. My reasons for not doing so are not
always financial, but stop me anyway.
I have a question, that in the countless times I have read your documentation are
still not answered. I hope that if I post these questions here in the guest area
that I may be able to recieve a definitive answer.
Q: When. When will the first construction and launch of a privately funded and
owned expidition be launched?
Q: When. When will a base be established?
Q: How much funding is necessary for the project to be advanced?
Q: Is it possible to push oneself up on the ranks of early mission travel?
Q: What are the top ten needed items/personal needed to speed the project along?
These are just a few of the questions I would like answers to. If you can answer
them I would be greatful. I really hope to see a private/non-governmental
installation on the moon within my life-time.
Thank you.

I'm an ex aerospace artist with 20+ years under my belt and some scifi film
work eager to assist doing conceptual 3D artwork. If one were to wait for the
politicians to get serious (in a cost affective way), it might never happen.
Private efforts may be our only hope. I fear that if we're not back on the moon
in 20 years, and on mars by 2025, we never will be. Ed Schaefer

Greetings, all. I read about you in Discover and absolutely had to check it
out . . . this is, truly, a dream come true. Mr. Bennett, your story about
landing day brought tears to my eyes; I could so see myself as the 12-year-old
girl. I'm not quite that young anymore, though; I'm a high school senior with no
future goals beyond whatever it takes to get me off this rock before I die.
Unfortunately, the fact that I am a high school senior also means that I do not
have a spare $35 sitting around, but I'd like to contribute whatever I can. I
wish you all the best of spacer's luck, and one way or another, I'll meet you on
Luna. I'll be watching . . .

'The Artemis Project': Progress like civilisation is made by us; yet history
is the tale of ruined civilisations, and progress the boast of every generation.
Have we learnt from the past, can it enable us to predict the future? "Like frogs
around a pond" we grow too numerous for our boundary, perhaps the moon is the
next pond. If so, take the time to make it right, don't let this be written off
as merely a new means at achieving an old end - progress, a blind crusade where
we continually increase the instrumentsalities without advancing the purposes.
The potential is here don't loose sight of the purpose. (TNARUD A & W)

Has anyone considered mailing corporations in need of some serious PR
right now? eg., exxon, microsoft, nike, Rj reynolds? I can see them
to deflect some of the bad press they have been getting:)
Also, remember the Russians? They are still miffed they never
got to go to the moon. Why don't we invite them? for a price
of course. Also, Brazil has money and no launch vehicle...
bet they'd love to get in on a capital investment. peace.

I wish all of luck to everyone on the staff, and hope that people keep me
informed. I read through some of the other things that people have said. I myself
think that this should be linked to the government in no possible way. Public use
would then falter. The moon has been looked upond as an oppritunity every since
early man first walked out to peer at the sky. The austronauts shouldn't be the
only ones to taste the adventure of going to the moon. Just to gaze upond the
Earth for a single moment would be the greatest experiance of my life. It seems
to be my every being. But then when I look at some of the prices...
It makes me wonder... Why have it be a treat for only the rich? Why not make the
moon available to the most apprecitive? The world should be able to grace the
moon, not just watch it from a meer distance. The Earth is here, now. It is
already won over by many, let the moon stay alive... Have the man, women and
children that want it most watch it from beyond the reches of humanitiy

I think that project has a great future...
It is great to think that the world is actually going to do something, and make
the thought of landing on the moon with our own two feet possible! Although to
young to contribute very much, I would be glad to help with anything if at all
possible. Finally man themselves can take "One small step..."

If the oil companies turn out to be an obstacle, perhaps it is possible to enlist
them as allies instead. We would call it "backing", while they call it
"diversifying".
Oil as an energy source is nearing the end of it's profitability. Oilmen should
consider Artemis to be a proactive survival measure.

How much would coca-cola pay if your spacecraft would look like their cans?
How much would McDonald's pay to
be on the moon before any other fast-food-chain? How much would CNN pay for the
exclusive report? It seems to
me that a privately financed moonbase could become a reality within fifteen
years; it doesn't seem half as unlikely
as JFK's famous anouncement in the beginning of the sixties. So lot's of success

I wonder how many other people out there joined the DoubleDay
Science Fiction Book Club in the early 60s, in which the
come-on was that DoubleDay promised to pay for a trip on
one of the first commercial flights to the moon. Surely,
there are enough of us to fund the first dozen or so
flights.

Given the recent confirmation of Lunar Ice deposits it looks
to me as if several national governments may be willing to
partner with a private approach.

The good news is that commercial moonflights as well as
permanent Lunar City are technically possible. The sad
news is that He-3 has been mentioned. With He-3 one can
run fusion plant by, say, 2040 and this is an issue which
has certainly been notified by oil companies. The oilmen
would sell their mothers if they just can slow down fusion
research. So, lets not say categoric no to Artemis - but
be sure the game gets tougher the closer the D-day comes.

I can't wait for the day that mankind returns to the Moon. Three decades has
been a long time, but I guess we've needed those intervening years to refine
technology so that it becomes cheaper and more reliable. I'm so glad that you
people have the dream of getting there using your own resources. Good luck, you
will get there if you continue to believe in the dream of colonizing the Moon.
And when you get there, millions upon millions of earthmen will be there in
spirit sharing your excitiment and enthusiasm.

What the heck has the Space Program ever done for us?

I followed space exploration closely through Mercury,Gemini and Apollo and
never understood why everything seemed to come to screeching halt. I assumed by
now we'd have a permanent station at the LA Grange point, homesteaders on the
moon, bases on Phobos and be exploring Mars. I'm glad to see there are still some
people that feel we must leave the cradle to be adults in the solar system and be
weaned from the teat of mother earth. If there is something I can contribute, you
